Zumba also great if you are hoping to lose weight because, depending upon how much and how hard you shake your booty, Zumba can burn up to 1000 per hour!

ZUMBA classes are held weekly at three venues; Marske Leisure Centre, Marton Hotel & Country Club and Ings Farm Primary School, Redcar. Please click on timetables for full details of class days and times.
HOW MUCH ARE THE CLASSES?
Classes are £3.25 per session at Marske Leisure Centre and Ings Farm Primary School and £3.50 per session at Marton Hotel & Country Club. (The reason the classes are slightly more at Marton Hotel & Country Club is because of the greater expense to hire the facility).
WHEN WILL I NOTICE RESULTS?
Once you’ve started Zumba you should see improvements in your level of fitness within about six weeks. As you progress you should also experience fat loss and improved muscle tone, especially when combined with a calorie controlled diet.
HOW DO I DO ZUMBA SAFELY?
Your fully qualified Zumba instructor is there to make sure you do everything correctly, but try to remember:
- Good posture is the foundation of all exercise.
- Focus on learning the right technique at the beginning.
- Work continuously at perfecting your technique.
- Perform the movements with control – smooth actions, not jerky.
- Always keep your joints slightly bent, don’t lock out your arms or legs.
- Listen to your body, it will tell you if something is not right.
- Boxercise should feel challenging, but at any time you need to take a rest, that’s fine!
Zumba Testimonial
We started attending Zumba classes in Marske in June 2010. We both desperately needed to lose weight for our holiday to Mexico in September.
When we pulled into the car park we very nearly decided to turn around again and go home as we thought the class would be full of skinny minnies and we would be the only non size 10’s!!!
Anyway, we absolutely loved the class and were pleased to see other familiar faces from the slimming club that we had joined the previous week.
Neither of us are particularly fond of exercising but Zumba really is just like a party. We were both dripping with sweat by the end of the class but both felt like we really didn’t want the class to end.
We now go to Zumba on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday and we have even started doing Body Pump and Body Balance to help tone up.
In 3 months we have lost 43 lbs between us, (Kay – 1 stone 4 lbs and Zoe 1 stone 9lbs).
We are both now so close to our target weight and can’t wait to go shopping for our new holiday clothes!
SO a big thanks to the Zumba girls. Keep up the good work!
Kay – aged 27 years and Zoe aged 34 years – both Redcar
ZUMBA is for everyone. So don’t be shy, come along and join the party! Some muscle pain is natural at first, especially if it’s the same on both sides of your body. This is muscle soreness. Muscle soreness is typical when starting out on a training programme and normally occurs 24 to 48 hours after exercise. If you have pain down only one side or in the joints, check with the instructor. If the pain continues, see your doctor.
